The Valeira was born in a moment of transition. When Rye Line moved from basket to sculpture. It carries the craft language of the woven baskets and the sculptural ambition of what came after.

The result is the softest, most voluminous piece in the collection. Each velvet yarn loop is placed by hand, building a form that is at once warm, generous and completely its own. Light to carry. Impossible to put down.

A Rye Line scarf tied at the handle by knot. The fabric lining closes with a drawstring. The gold-tone chain strap is detachable.

Craft & Process

Each Valeira is handcrafted in Portugal using 2.5cm velvet yarn. Every loop placed by hand, building the spherical form from the base upward. The technique belongs to the arm knit tradition, reimagined entirely by Rye Line. The twisted handle is worked separately and joined to the body. No two pieces are ever exactly the same.

Care

Spot clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not wash or soak. Keep away from prolonged exposure to sunlight. Store in a dust bag when not in use.

Velvet yarn. Macramé. Wicker. Natural fibres chosen for their presence and honesty, visible, tactile, and integral to the form. Nothing is hidden. Nothing is decorative. The material is the statement.
