Why slow fashion?
I have a degree in fashion design, I started my professional career with a streetwear brand, I evolved a lot during that period, I met incredible professionals... in the first few years, I felt super fulfilled and grateful to be so happy doing my work. Dream! Until the moment I got to know the other side of the textile industry, the fast-fashion industry, from the inside. There were few months, but heavy months. I didn't recognize myself in that world, I couldn't accept those policies, labor and social, I participated in projects that I wasn't proud of, even though I knew that the names would add value to any CV. And, as I debated whether to respect my values or ignore the obvious, the decision was clear. However, exhaustion and disappointment affected me in such a way that I gave up my profession.
At 30, I started to miss this world, not the unpalatable one, but the one where I can feel fulfilled and at peace with the work processes. I searched and studied, until I found a path that I identified with, personally and professionally. It was in this process that Rye Line emerged. People ask me if Rye was a dream, it wasn't, now it is! The dream of contributing to the fashion sector being more empathetic, respectful, fair, socially responsible and less harmful to the planet and professionals.
